Student Advisory Board PDF Print E-mail

We try to strike a balance between fostering a community of mutual interest around the Honors Program and encouraging students to weave their Honors experience into other campus interests and activities. Our students contribute not only in the classroom. You'll find them leading student government, editing The Daily Tar Heel, playing varsity and club sports, and organizing community service.

The Honors Program Student Advisory Board organizes extracurricular activities and service projects for Honors Program and other interested students. Activities coordinated by the Board currently include Food for Thought, which brings first-year students together with faculty for discussions of important issues and allows students to get to know their faculty outside of the classroom; the Honors Pal program, helping incoming Honors students acclimate to UNC life; the Honors Host program, which facilitates campus visits by prospective Honors students; and the Bluestocking Discussion Society, which meets for regular discussion of literature, film, and social and cultural issues.
