C-START Application PDF Print E-mail

Eligibility requirements have recently been revised.  Applicants must have completed four semesters in residence at UNC and 75 credit hours (including placement credits) by the end of the 2010 spring semester. Junior transfer students are exempt from the residency standard.  It is NOT necessary for applicants to be rising seniors planning to graduate in Spring 2011.

During the fall term, C-START student-instructors will prepare their courses under the supervision of a faculty mentor.  They will be required to participate in a series of workshops conducted by the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL).  At the end of the fall semester, C-START student-instructors will submit their syllabi to the C-START oversight committee.  Once approved by that committee, C-START courses are scheduled for the spring.

Student-instructors will receive three (3) hours of graded independent study credit for designing and teaching their courses.

Please complete the C-START Application and submit it along with:

  • A description of the proposed course and your qualifications to teach it
  • A resume
  • A letter of support from a faculty mentor

Course descriptions should be no longer than three (3) double-spaced pages.

Application materials should be submitted as e-mail attachments (Word or PDF files) addressed to
Jason Clemmons
( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ), University Administrative Manager for the Honors Program and the Johnston Center for Undergraduate Excellence.

Faculty should send their letter of support to the same address.
